From ANTHEM's 35th anniversary tour, which brought together past members, two shows with special participation by Hirotsugu Homma are completely recorded!
This album is a monumental work for ANTHEM.
ANTHEM's 35th anniversary tour, which was postponed from 2020 to 2021 due to COVID-19, has cleared various conditions to prevent infectious diseases and has successfully completed all dates. Initially, seven shows were scheduled until EX THEATER ROPPONGI in Tokyo on June 5. Later, the Kawasaki Club Città show on June 11 was added, bringing the total number of shows to eight. The tour was affected by COVID-19 until the very end, but it was a great accomplishment to be able to overcome it and complete the tour.
The tour featured four current ANTHEM members, Naoto Shibata [b], Akio Shimizu [g], Yukio Morikawa [vo], Isamu Tamaru [ds], and past ANTHEM members MAD Ouchi [ds], Tony Maeda [vo], and Eizo Sakamoto [vo]. Initially, Graham Bonnet was scheduled to be the "fourth ANTHEM singer" for the final show only, but due to COVID-19, Graham was unable to come to Japan this year. Hirotsugu Homma [ds] was hurriedly invited to perform in Roppongi and Kawasaki. This video work "ANTHEM 35th ANNIVERSARY TOUR" is the complete recording of these two shows in Roppongi and Kawasaki.
Due to the restrictions imposed by COVID-19, this tour was not divided into two parts, but instead each member appeared one after the other. The dense content of 19 songs plus one encore, which covered the history of ANTHEM from before their debut to the present, clearly showed that the band has been pushing forward with pride and also showed that they are the strongest amongst every era. It is an ideal that "every song from every era has equal power and is enthusiastically welcomed by the fans," but it is an extremely difficult task to achieve. However, ANTHEM is one of the few bands in the world that have achieved this. This live work including the two shows is a monumental testament to their achievement.
